Owning a Golden

Please click on the links for Realistic Assessment and Choosing a Breeder and read the information they contain, before proceeding to the Acquiring a Golden link.

Become familiar with what you should expect from a breeder, and what a breeder might expect from you.  If you aren't happy with what a breeder is telling you, find another one.

Read the Club's Code of Ethics and ask yourself whether the breeder you are talking to is abiding by the Club's rules.

Realistic Assessment

So you're nuts about Goldens. Yes, they are great family dogs - great with children, easy going and lovable. But, do you realistically have the time and energy to commit to a Golden?  Here's what they need...

Choosing a Breeder

There are many Golden Retriever breeders.  Find out more about choosing a breeder.  Here is a link from the Golden Retriever Club of America, detailing what a responsible breeder does.

The GRCBC has four different listings for people looking for Golden Retrievers.

Puppy List

The Puppy List is for those people looking for young puppies approximately 7 – 14 weeks of age.  The Puppy List provides you with the names and contact information for breeder members who have puppies available now or in the near future.  All the puppies on this list will be CKC registered and the parents will have had their hips and eye clearances.

Juvenile Dog List

The Juvenile Dog List is for people who are looking for older puppies or young adults from our Club members.  Dogs will range between 4 - 32 months of age. They will be CKC registered and their parents will have hip and eye clearances.
