Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) Certificate of Conformation Assessment (CCA)

The Golden Retriever Club of America (GRCA) Certificate of Conformation Assessment (CCA) is a  non-competitive evaluation event for intact, spayed and neutered golden retrievers that are 18 months or older on the day of a CCA event and are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), American Kennel Club (AKC),  or  have an AKC PAL or ILP number.

Golden retrievers participating in a CCA event are evaluated to the Golden Retriever Breed Standard by three qualified evaluators.  Both written and verbal feedback from each evaluator is provided to owners to provide them with information of how their dog is assessed to the Breed Standard.

Dogs participating in a CCA program may be conformation show dogs, dogs that participate primarily in performance events such as competitive obedience, agility, rally, field/hunt tests, and tracking, etc., dogs whose owners are considering participation in conformation shows, and/or dogs whose owners just want to know how their dog meets the Breed Standard.

A CCA event is limited to a maximum of 24 dogs and typically costs between $65.00 - $75.00.  In addition to owners meeting individually for 10 - 15 minutes with their dogs and each of the three evaluators, dogs participating in a CCA event are measured for height, have individual dog photos taken, and participate in a mingle with a group of golden retrievers.  For golden retrievers that receive a passing CCA event score, group photographs are taken and owners receive a GRCA Certificate and CCA title for their dog.

Owners participating in a CCA event leave the event with a deeper understanding of their dog's great and not so great attributes and in many cases, with a new (GRCA CCA) title for their dog.

The GRCBC  holds an indoor CCA event every few years in conjunction with their annual GRCBC Obedience & Rally trials, normally in March.  Volunteering at the CCA event is a great way to learn about the program as well as Obedience and Rally and meet other golden owners and their dogs.  As a GRCBC member you will receive notifications of all GRCBC events.
