Jean Donaldson Seminar
Have you ever wondered about your dog's behaviour and what's going on in its head?

Then you should give yourself a Christmas present and come to Victoria BC in October 2008 for the JEAN DONALDSON seminar hosted by the Victoria City Kennel Club.

"DOG BEHAVIOUR - THE SCIENCE MADE ACCESSIBLE"

If you are interested in THE latest and most accurate information, made crystal clear and understandable but not at all dumbed-down, this is the seminar for you.  Join Jean for two days of:

· Demystification of Nature-Nurture questions (in English until you really get it)
· Genetics and domestication - the fascinating ways these impact behavior
· Evolution by Natural Selection - "The Single Best Idea Anybody Ever Had" (Daniel Dennett) and why it is the key to all (every last bit of…) behavior
· The Four "F"s of animal behavior and their specifics in dogs
· Thinking like an evolutionary biologist about fear and aggression
· What the heck is play?  Refereeing play
· What are dogs' strong cognitive domains, or brain-power modules
· Ask your Most Burning Question
· Oodles of practical pointers along the way
· Oodles of fun
· Oodles of head-exploding information

Jean Donaldson, a household name for anyone who reads her award winning column in Dogs in Canada, is a renowned animal behaviourist who has been participating in dog sports and putting numerous titles on her dogs since 1975. Undoubtedly one of her favourite pastimes is flyball with her rescue Chow Buffy, the only Chow registered with the North American Flyball Association.

With degrees in Music and Comparative Psychology, Jean has put her talents to good use as an award winning author of several books including CULTURE CLASH, MINE!, FIGHT!, BEHAVE! and a DVD on basic obedience: PERFECT PAWS IN FIVE DAYS.
Since moving to San Francisco from Canada, Jean founded the San Francisco SPCA Academy of Dog Trainers (aka the 'Harvard' for dog trainers) where she instructs while pursuing a doctorate in evolutionary biology.

Jean is looking forward to coming to Canada, presenting NEW material at this seminar which is aimed at both owners and trainers.
